History of Julianadorp
At first 40 two under one roof houses were built in Julianadorp. Today these two under one roof houses are called ‘oud-Julianadorp’, as in 1948 new people started living in Julianadorp as a result of the construction of the oil refinery. Mostly senior staff and the board of directors started living in Julianadorp. The houses that were built were mostly built on the wind, as there is a constant north eastern wind. The houses in Julianadorp do generally not need air conditioning as the wind blows through the entire house.
Families living in Julianadorp
After Shell left Curaçao in 1985, Julianadorp became a calm neighborhood. Because of the tranquility, a lot of parents with small children started living in Julianadorp. The quietness and the possibilities for the children to go to school here attracted them. Within this neighborhood there are two middle schools: the Schroederschool, which is a Dutch private school and the A.E. Goilo School. Living in Julianadorp also includes living near a high school and the university of Curaçao. Because of the many children living in Julianadorp it is very easy for them to make friends in Julianadorp.
When you are living in Julianadorp you are very centrally located. The beautiful beaches of Blue Bay and Kokomo are reachable within 5 minutes. Also, the centre of Willemstad and the airport of Curaçao are within a few kilometers. So whether you go shopping in the centre of Willemstad, or going to the beach, living in Julianadorp is probably the best choice you will ever make.
